We are in the early stages of developing AI-supported learning games that use AI to support reflection, abstraction and personalization of learning.
This project examines the potential of combining artificial intelligence (AI) and game-based learning to create more engaging and meaningful educational experiences for students. It focuses on designing interactive learning environments that foster not only academic growth but also student motivation, confidence, and a sense of identity as learners.
Rather than treating games as rewards or add-ons to traditional instruction, the project places them at the center of the learning experience. The games are designed to be immersive, reflective, and adaptive, providing students with space to explore, struggle, and grow, while guidance and feedback are embedded into the gameplay itself.
AI plays a critical role by personalizing the learning experience, helping students reflect on their actions, and supporting educators with insights into student progress. The project also prioritizes co-design with teachers and students to ensure the tools are both useful and meaningful in real-world classrooms.
Ultimately, this work aims to rethink how educational tools are created and used, with a long-term vision of building scalable, integrated solutions that enhance both learning outcomes and student well-being.
We currently have an early prototype of an algebra game that is in the early testing stages
This project is in the early testing phases and will have upcoming research.
