Amelia Farid

Postdoctoral Learning Designer

Amelia is a postdoctoral learning designer at the MIT Scheller Teacher Education Program, where she contributes to the development and evaluation of problem-based high school geometry curricula. Her research draws on design-based research approaches in supporting and understanding processes of mathematics thinking and learning, particularly student engagement in authentic disciplinary practices. She has extensive experience developing robust mathematics curricula, particularly in an effort to disrupt persistent educational inequality. ​She holds a PhD in mathematics education and an MA in mathematics from the University of California Berkeley, as well as a BA in mathematics from Columbia University.
