[Fwd: an igo model]







Hi,

I'm beginning to design a model of the game 'Igo' using Starlogo.
I want to find someone who would be interested in being an occasional
soundboard and brainstorming partner.

This is very much an exploration and I don't know quite how things will
develop. Basically I want to use the rules of the 'game' as a starting
point. The board is the environment and the two sides compete for the
scarce resource of territory.

Of course in a real game this is fought over by the skills of the
players. What happens when the stones are left to their own devices, as
if they were competing gangs with no central controlling agent? Will
something similar to a real game develop? I think that the model will
let me study the effectiveness of different evaluation techniques and
gain a better understanding of how groups of stones influence the game.

Most importantly, I think it will be fun.
