We wish to invite you to contribute to a symposium issue of
"Simulation & Gaming" on the theme of medical and health simulation.
This general theme includes such topics as:
Medical education simulation. Interactive patients.
Computerized simulation in medicine. Nurse training.
Cultural aspects of health & medicine. Diagnostic simulation.
Simulation in medical research. Surgery simulation.
Epidemic & disease propagation. Virtual medicine.
Health counseling & simulation. Health care policy exercises.
Simulation design & parameters. Hospital management simulation.
Visualization & imaging in medicine. Communication in health & care.
Virtual reality & medecine. Debriefing experiences.

Perspectives
Contributions from a variety of perspectives are invited, for example,
empirical research (experimental to ethnographic, how simulation has
helped to advance medical knowledge), in-depth analyses, discussion
papers, training programs (how simulation helps doctors to be more
effective, how games help teachers to make the public more aware of
medical issues), descriptions of simulation/games, literature reviews,
resource surveys.

Tentative timetable
· February 2000 = submissions of first drafts.
· April 2000 = comments back to authors.
· June 2000 = final manuscripts sent in.
· Publication date = December 2000.

· A working title. An abstract or rationale. A set of objectives
for the proposed paper. A working plan.
