Cerebrate Data Collection Instructions
Installing the Cerebrate Data Collection Software
Requisites
You will need the following software:
(1) For your PC -
- HotSync Manager 6.0 or later
- The included installation files for PC Cerebrate
- Graphviz visualization software
- Virtual PC if you are using a Macintosh computer
(2) For your Palm (available in Palm Apps folder) -
- NetsWork application on all student devices
- Cerebrate application on teacher device
Installation

If you do not have HotSync Manager 6.0 or later:
0a) Install PalmOS Desktop 4.0.3
0b) Install the new HotSync Manager over PalmOS desktop.
Version 6.0.1 is available as a part of the Palm CDK (you will first need to register for free).

1) Run the Install_Cerebrate.bat batch file.
Using the Cerebrate Data Collection Software
Collecting Game Data
1) On the teacher device, start up the "Cerebrate" application
2) Make sure the student is running "Netswork" and has the "Summary" screen
open (File->Summary from the "My Mailbox" screen)
3) Align the teacher and student devices and click "Fetch Log" on the
teacher's device. You could alternatively have the student click
"Submit log" on his/her device. If the operation is successful, both
teacher and student will receive a message confirming the success of transfer.
4) Repeat process for each student device.
Importing Data to PC
1) Perform a hotsync with your palm as usual and the game data will automatically be
downloaded to C:\NetsWork\Data\cerebrate.log.
Visualization Software
1) After downloading game data, run the Generate_Graphs.bat batch file to generate
graphs using Graphviz (a shortcut to Generate_Graphs.bat was created on your
desktop during installation).
NOTE: If you have not yet downloaded any game data or the data file
C:\NetsWork\Data\cerebrate.log has been deleted since the last HotSync, you
will get an error when attempting to generate graphs. If this happens, HotSync
again with the Palm containing the collected game data and try again.
